Hybirds vs. Regular Fuel Cars

Usually a great concern with cars nowadays can be its gas mileage, due to our badly hurt economy. Maybe it’s not the prices you are concerned about though, and maybe it’s the pollution in the environment. Whatever your priorities are when purchasing a car, fuel economy isn’t the only thing to consider when looking to purchase a hybrid car vs. gas car.

Most hybrid cars average between 33 and 60 miles per gallon during normal city driving, and between 36 and 68 miles per gallon with highway miles. However, hybrids come with a higher sales price than similar gas models. Some are even as much as thousand dollars higher. On the positive side, these prices are near to coming down in the near future. Hybrid car owners also get a relief in insurance payments. Some automotive carriers are now even offering as much as 5-10% off on hybrid vehicles.

Skyhook Wireless is an Intel Research company whose technology enables any device to determine its position, via triangulating wifi signals. At the heart of this company, is a database of wi-fi locations and algorithms for locating a person’s location on the base stations. Due to the fact that it is only wi-fi and algorithms, any device that is wifi-enabled can implement these algorithms.

Skyhook also has created Loki. This is a Firefox toolbar that makes use of the Skyhook platform and determines your location so you can have an easy, one-click search, location sharing and mapping. All location lookups will involve the signal strengths that are being sent to the servers and the location returned. What is the importance of this factor? This information might be important, meaning the day might come when the logs of PDA’s locations are subpoenaed in your next divorce case.

There are two kinds of car navigation systems by installed method: one is the embedded car multimedia information system, which often integrates navigation, DVD, audio, Bluetooth, etc. It includes factory OEM navigation system and aftermarket navigation system. The other kind is PND (Portable Navigation Device), whose sales channels are IT and 3C stores. In 2008, the world’s total shipment of GPS navigation devices were over 70 million units, of which, the shipment of factory OEM car navigation devices occupied 10%. The factory OEM car navigation devices market scale will surpass 14 million sets by 2011. Technology re-identified is the attempt to coalesce tools into one mini gadget. We can say that technology is an evolution in a hurry. I wouldn’t agree that laziness fathered invention. Humans are just a convenience-hungry creature.

It’s really tricky to tell which among the latest gadgets is the newest, as new gadgets swarm the markets in an almost daily basis. We can say that the entertainment value of each concept-created gadget dominates pragmatic reasons. Or, that the primary rationale of most gadgets that is communication has been redefined to make communication more fun.

It is amazing to trace how man has improved his means of communication. He started scribbling in cave walls, has learned to use figures and icons to convey a message and he has later learned to send those messages using trained pigeons. And because man is ever hungry to leave a more expedient life, he never ceased to advance. And man has worked arduously to develop his communication equipment. But besides man’s ingenuity and being convenience-hungry is man’s love for fun. And man’s love for pleasure dates back from the prehistoric era when people go to coliseums to watch feisty gladiators, to these days when south and North Pole can easily converge. Maybe because enjoyment is tantamount to convenience.
